News: Abe's new cabinet targets "War on History" against Korea

Kyoji Uchida, a reporter at Kyodo Press (the largest news agency in Japan), published an article expounding Shinzo Abe's new cabinet.
https://this.kiji.is/547688530402280545

He pointed out that the new Abe cabinet is preparing for "War on History" against South Korea's Moon Jae In government, with a quotation from an anonymous opposite party leader.

The word "War on History" was first used by extreme right-wing Sankei newspaper in "War on History" campaign from April 2014. The aim of "War on History" is to glorify the Japanese Empire which fell down after WWII and whitewash its brute invasion, especially the existence of "comfort woman" (wartime sex slaves).

Uchida wrote that four ministers, i.e. Minister of Education Koichi Hagiuda, State Minister in Charge of Promoting Dynamic Engagement of All Citizens Seiichi Etoh, State Minister for Economic Revitalization Yasutoshi Nishimura and Minister of Internal Affairs Sanae Takaichi share extreme right-wing belief with Shinzo Abe. He expected that at least one of these four ministers will visit Yasukuni War shrine.

He also expected that Abe will accelerate the conflict with Moon with his new cabinet.

Extreme right-wing leaflet

Extreme right-wing group "Akarui Nippon" (Bright Japan) distributed this leaflet.

The phrases in this picture says "Mom, why should Japanese constitution be replaced?" "That's because to save you."
The four people surrounding the mom and girl in this picture are Kim Jong Un of North Korea, Xi Jin Ping of China, Putin of Russia and probable terrorist in the Middle East clockwise.

"Akarui Nippon" shares the address with Nippon Kaigi (Japan Conference) Tokyo-Minato branch. Nippon Kaigi is one of the largest extreme right-wing movement in Japan. Nippon Kaigi and Moonism are the representative extreme right-wing movements in Japan and both are enthusiastic supporters of Shinzo Abe.

Articles abusing China disappeared from some extreme right wing magazines

Articles abusing China disappeared from some extreme right wing magazines

Extreme right-wing magazine "Monthly Will" had a special feature “China's Too Deep Darkness” in the April 2019 issue and “Too Terrible, China!” in the May issue, but afterward there was almost no articles about China. Another extreme right-wing magazine "Monthly Hanada" also has discontinued articles abusing China after a special feature “Chinese Ambition” in the March 2019 issue. These attitude changes reflect Shinzo Abe Administration's wish to improve the relation with China.

On the other hand, "Seiron" (Sankei newspaper) continues to publish articles criticizing China, for example a special feature "Thirty years after the Tiananmen Incident” in the July 2019 issue. "Voice" (Yomiuri newspaper) also published an article "Hong Kong demonstration exposed the limits of 'one country and two systems'" in August 2019 issue.

Depending on the magazines or publishers, there is a difference in the attitude against China. "Seiron" and "Voice" were founded during the Cold War Era. They have a familiar relation with Taipei and Communist China is their main enemy. On the other hand, "Monthly Will" and "Monthly Hanada" were founded after End of Cold War, therefore they put more focus on advocating racism and applauding Japanese imperialism than ideological (anti-communism) topics.

Right-wing advocates shaking hands with Trump

In the photo of Ryusho Kadota's tweet, we can see the scene where right-wing advocates were shaking hands with President Trump when Trump visited Japan and watch sumo wrestling match. The second woman from left in green dress is Yoshiko Sakurai, the man with glasses on the right of Sakurai is Ryusho Kadota and the old woman with white hair on the right of Kadota is Kin Birei.

As I have shown by "Bibliography: Shinzo Abe", Yoshiko Sakurai often co-authored with Shinzo Abe for extreme right-wing magazines. Kin Birei also wrote some articles with Shinzo Abe.

Abe first became Prime Minister in September 2006. Just before Abe's inauguration, his exposure in extreme-right magazines suddenly increased. After Abe's resign in August 2007, he once disappeared even from extreme-right magazines.
But after Liberal Democratic Party's landslide defeat of the September 2009 general election, Abe had come back to extreme-right magazines and has increased his exposure. After he took back Prime Minister's office in December 2012, he continues to write in extreme right-wing magazines like "Monthly Will" or "Monthly Hanada."

News: Tokyo Olympic Committee allows waving former Japanese Imperial Navy flag in the Olympic Stadium

Tokyo Olympic Committee allows waving the "Rising Sun Flag", former Japanese Imperial Navy flag, in the Olympic Stadium. As we can see in the cover of Philip K. Dick's "The man in the high castle," the Rising Sun flag is thought to be the symbol of Japanese invasion in early 20th century. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea urged the Tokyo Olympic Committee to withdraw this decision.

News: Extreme right-wing politician Mio Sugita makes a speech in Paris

News: Extreme right wing politician Mio Sugita makes a speech in Paris

On September 8, 2019, an extreme right-wing parliament member Mio Sugita will make speech in Paris. Her speech had been planned to hold at Maison du Japon in Cite Internationale universitaire de Paris, but the venue was changed. New venue isn't yet publicly announced.

Mio Sugita was a longstanding extreme right-wing activist. She became a lower house parliament member belonging to Restoration Party in 2012. The Restoration Party consisted of the extreme right-wing group and the libertarian group, they were split in 2014. After the split of Restoration Party, she was recruited by ruling Liberal Democratic Party by its President, Shinzo Abe's invitation. Now, she is a lower house parliament member belonging to Liberal Democratic Party.

She wrote an article  for monthly right-wing magazine "Shincho 45" in which she disparaged LGBT as "unproductive." She came in for a lot of criticism over her article and "Shincho 45" was discontinued as a symbol of apology.

The Illustrator Toshiko Hasumi drew many illustrations for Sugita, which embellish Sugita than life-size. (Sugita displays the photo in her younger age on her blog, but actually she is already in her 50s.)  Hasumi is infamously known worldwide by her illustration denigrating Syrian refugee girl.

Notorious Hasumi's illustration, the caption says "I want to be a refugee."
