News: Extreme right wing politician Mio Sugita makes a speech in Paris

On September 8, 2019, an extreme right-wing parliament member Mio Sugita will make speech in Paris. Her speech had been planned to hold at Maison du Japon in Cite Internationale universitaire de Paris, but the venue was changed. New venue isn't yet publicly announced.

Mio Sugita was a longstanding extreme right-wing activist. She became a lower house parliament member belonging to Restoration Party in 2012. The Restoration Party consisted of the extreme right-wing group and the libertarian group, they were split in 2014. After the split of Restoration Party, she was recruited by ruling Liberal Democratic Party by its President, Shinzo Abe's invitation. Now, she is a lower house parliament member belonging to Liberal Democratic Party.

She wrote an article  for monthly right-wing magazine "Shincho 45" in which she disparaged LGBT as "unproductive." She came in for a lot of criticism over her article and "Shincho 45" was discontinued as a symbol of apology.

The Illustrator Toshiko Hasumi drew many illustrations for Sugita, which embellish Sugita than life-size. (Sugita displays the photo in her younger age on her blog, but actually she is already in her 50s.)  Hasumi is infamously known worldwide by her illustration denigrating Syrian refugee girl.

Notorious Hasumi's illustration, the caption says "I want to be a refugee."
